Chronology

  • 24 Jul, 1911: Machu Picchu is discovered by American Historian and Explorer Hiram Bingham who was traveling the region looking for the old Inca capital and was led to Machu Picchu by a local farmer. Bingham went on to locate/discover the Old Incan Capita, Vitcos, in addition to Espiritu Pampa.-Turn Right at Machu Picchu by Adams.

  • 1824: Battle of Ayacucho; Ecuadorian forces under Simon Bolivar's defeat the Spanish forces.-Turn Right at Machu Picchu by Adams.

  • 1572: The Spaniards sack Vilcabamba, the Incan jungle capital, sacked by the Spaniards. Tupac Amaru, the last Inca Emperor, is captured and executed in Cusco in the Plaza de Armas.
